There was once and AVA Update available, but with the latest Half-Life version it was too buggy. So I give you the option now to configure multiple Half-Life installs to separate the different protocols.

This is the default layout, you may have changed the controls. Most mods in Half-Life have their own demo controls, read their relevant documentation files.

There are so many demo types with a '.dem' extension. Doesn't Seismovision get confused on what game to start?

Seismovision uses a demo identification algorithm to read the start of a demo and find know strings to identify the demo. It may though happen that it fails. Please report such happenings.

My Counter-Strike Retail is detected as Half-Life. Is that correct?

Yes that's correct. Counter-Strike Retail is recognised as Half-Life.
